As part of Self Care Week during 12th – 18th November, Blackpool Coastal Housing held a special Self Care Event at St John’s Church on Tuesday 13th November. Our Care & Repair, More Positive Together and Sheltered Housing teams joined forces to organise the event, which was a fantastic success and attended by 115 individuals.

16 agencies took part in the event, putting on a variety of activities and interesting stalls for everyone to see and get involved in, including raffles, live music, home-made fresh soup and refreshments. A range of information about the various services was also available; Fire Safety in the home, healthy eating & keeping fit, Defibrillator demonstrations, assistance for family members dealing with dementia and much more!

Our More Positive Together team received referrals into their services during the day and Care & Repair also signed up lots of people onto the Priority Services Register.

We’d like to extend a big thank you to the following businesses, contractors and supermarkets, who all donated and assisted with prizes and food for the event on the day: Russell Haldane Trust (Cleveleys), Asda (Cherry Tree Gardens), Co-op (Abingdon Street), Tesco Extra (Clifton Road), Sainsbury’s (Talbot Road), Jewson’s (Mowbray Drive) and Technical & Electrical (Moorfields, Blackpool).

We would also like to say a big thank you to all the external agencies that attended on the day, without them it wouldn’t have been so successful; British Red Cross, Lancashire Fire & Rescue, Silverline, Groundworks, Blackpool Sports Centre, Arthritis UK, Diabetes UK, Volunteer Service, Active Lancashire, Holistic Therapy Volunteers, Blackpool School of Music and Create Care.
