As part of the prestigious Blackpool Tower’s 125 year celebrations, a special award ceremony was held recently in September to honour heroes from across Blackpool’s local communities. 125 community groups and residents were commended at the Afternoon Tea event; one local hero for every year of the Tower’s history.

One of our young residents, Casey, was praised for her work as part of the Prince’s Trust Blackpool Team 74 in transforming a community garden at the rear of Lowmoor Community Centre. The 12-week Prince’s Trust programme is for young people aged 16-25 and aims to improve their confidence, teamwork and employability skills, as well as an appreciation of their local community.

The group of young people worked hard on weeding and clearing the allotment area ready for planting fruit and vegetables for local residents and tidying the pathways to make the area more accessible.

Congratulations to Casey and the rest of the Blackpool Team 74 for their hard work and the well-deserved recognition they received at the ceremony.

We’re proud to see that so many of our local residents and communities received awards for their dedication – more information can be found in Blackpool Gazette’s article here: https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/news/people/125-local-heroes-pictures-of-a-very-special-blackpool-tower-celebration-1-10002097?fbclid=IwAR3ADx2OiClIJpjd_cJtaA4xrRn-8fCjABakcCRwecfxAs86UVL1g8pjB0A
