Housing Minister hears the views of residents from across the North West
On 9th November, a group of Blackpool Coastal Housing residents were amongst over 100 residents from across the North West region, who took part in a consultation with Alok Sharma MP, Minister for Housing.
The event was held at Preston North End Football Club.
The purpose of the event was for the Minister to hear about the key issues being faced by residents living in social housing.
Following the sadness of Grenfell, this has elevated the concern that residents’ views should be feeding directly into policy and the future of social housing.
In the coming months, the Minister will be compiling a Green Paper due to be released in Spring 2018 however he would like to offer as many tenants as possible the opportunity to contribute to the consultation.
BCH are supporting the Minister’s request to help more of our residents to have their say about key housing issues which include:
- managing complaints and redress routes
- social tenants’ voices being heard
- ensuring good and consistent quality services from landlords
- safety of tenants
