The Tenant’s Project Fund – supporting your community

The Tenants Project Fund, or TPF as it’s also known, was created to support projects that make a positive difference to our customers’ lives and local communities.

As always, it’s been a busy time for the TPF recently as we’ve been funding a variety of fabulous projects – both large grants up to £10,000 and smaller grants of £500 or less. Read on to find out more about these projects…

Blackpool Council Public Health, in partnership with the BRIC Group (Blackpool Residents Inquiry in Claremont Group) secured £500 to run a Chatty Bus campaign over Christmas and the New Year, with the aim of encouraging anyone who might benefit from some social contact to come to the bus for a chat and a brew. Care and Share, in partnership with Supported Housing, received £1,400  to allow them to continue to deliver the vital and invaluable resource for the community of Blackpool and those experiencing hardship. Check their Facebook page here to find out more.

Molyneux Drive Friends and Neighbours received £175 to go towards funding their annual Christmas party for residents, held in the local community centre, to help reduce social isolation (and provide everyone with a delicious knees up!). Over 25 residents attended, and along with the meal, received a Christmas gift and played bingo, so a good time was had all round!

Jobs, Friends and Houses received £9,492 to provide bus passes to enable tenants accessing their service to travel to and attend mutual aid meetings, as part of their recovery progression. Providing these transport passes allows customers, who would have seen the cost of travel as a barrier in their recovery, to access vital recovery services and connect with others in recovery.

Friends of the Freedom Centre were awarded £10,000 to go towards the renovation of the derelict former St Wilfrid’s Church hall building, which will be turned into a provision for the local community called the Freedom Centre. The money contributed from the TPF enables Friends of the Freedom Centre to complete essential roof upgrades. For more info click here.

Our Supported Housing Service,  received £1146.93  after submitting 3 applications throughout the year, have been busy organising a wide range of activities across Blackpool from our Community Centres, ranging from pizza days, Christmas parties,  comfort food kitchens – the list goes on!

We would like to say a big thank you to all our TPF volunteer grant assessors for their continued involvement with Blackpool Coastal Housing and the Tenant’s Project Fund. The TPF has helped the above projects (plus numerous more over the years) make a huge difference to the lives of so many BCH customers and members of the community. Thank you!

Also, in an effort to continuously improve the service we offer to customers accessing the Tenant’s Project Fund, we look forward to sharing with you some exciting new changes we’ve been hard at work on recently, so watch this space!
