Transformation underway at Dunsop Court
Works are currently being undertaken by Blackpool Coastal Housing’s Capital Works Team to redevelop resident accommodation at Sheltered Housing Scheme Dunsop Court.
The properties had previously been difficult to let due to their studio design with combined living, dining and bedroom space. Each of the existing 45 bedsits are being transformed into modern 1 bedroom flats, complete with new windows, electrical rewire, new flooring, redecoration, new kitchen, and new bathroom or wet room, dependent on individual needs.
The redevelopment project is expected to take 2 years and has been designed with future-proofing in mind; internal spaces are adaptable to accommodate customers with a variety of mobility needs.
Leslie Child (pictured), was one of the first residents to move into her newly refurbished flat and has been extremely impressed with the transformation. The first four properties have now been completed and occupied with another two expected to be finished by the end of this month.
John Donnellon, Chief Executive of Blackpool Coastal Housing, said;
Our aim is to provide our customers with high quality homes that they are proud to live in; these newly refurbished properties will do just that. We’re confident that the level of turnover previously experienced will also reduce with the introduction of this well-designed accommodation.
