Well wishes for our elderly residents from local school pupils
Keen to make a difference, Highfield Leadership Academy pupils have been busy volunteering their time to help spread some kindness through these challenging times.
So much so they have been sending letters of good will to some of our more elderly residents who live alone, as well as compiling a virtual Remembrance Day service and making decorative tea lights to let them know they care.
Prior to lockdown, pupils had been volunteering their time to help residents get online as part of a project delivered in partnership with Blackpool and the Fylde College. When the pandemic hit, the sessions were put on hold but the students wanted to continue to show they cared even though they could not meet in the usual way.
The letters have been so well received.
One of our residents got in touch crying with happiness and confessed that she had been feeling down but when the letter came in the post it cheered her up no end!
She would like to say ‘a great big thank you from her heart for the pupils efforts, they are much appreciated and it is very thoughtful for the children to think of her.’
Well done and thank you to our amazing Highfield volunteers!
